Social Media Producers Wanted
Social Media Producers Wanted
The Renaissance Journalism Center in partnership with the New Media Lab & Incubator has an immediate need for up to five media producers. The producers will work with New Media Lab & Incubator staff and researchers on an experimental, national project that supports the development and design of new uses of mobile and online technologies for nonprofit organizations. The New Media Lab & Incubator convenes researchers and practitioners of new media and digital technology to re-imagine content production, revenue generation, and sustainable management.
Producers will work collaboratively with a national nonprofit organization to develop, design, and produce a model to be delivered online or broadcast that uses a platform to aggregate content that advances the nonprofit’s ability to facilitate an ongoing conversation with its audience about its work. Applicants should have 1+ years using social media tools and/or mobile and online technologies. They should also have an interest in experimenting and working with new media tools.
Applicants with experience facilitating ongoing conversations using online networking tools and familiarity with broadcast quality production and digital transmission preferred. All applicants should also be able to attend a three-day orientation in San Francisco Nov. 9-Nov. 11. The event will introduce and match producers to their nonprofit partners and include presentations by practitioners and academics of social media, journalism, and civic engagement. Up to 10 finalists will be asked to participate in the Nov. 9-11 meeting; from that group, five candidates will be selected to participate in the project.
Producers will receive $500 monthly stipends for the duration of the 12-month project. They will also have access to training and production staff to help develop prototypes.
To apply, please email your resume along with a cover letter. Tell us how you have and/or are using social media, an organization whose use of social media you think is particularly effective, and how you imagine nonprofits might use social media to interact with their audiences. Email your application to info@rjcmedia.org by Oct. 26, 2009. Candidates will be notified by Oct. 30, 2009.
